Cottage For Sale

I really am not a non-fiction reader but some are fun if written with great characters and read like fiction.  Cottage for Sale:  Must Be Moved by Kate Whouley is that type of book.  The author sees vacation cottages up for sale for only $3000 but they must be moved by the purchaser.  She envisions personal and professional space to add on to her tiny three room home on Cape Cod.  The year long project is filled with comical characters, learning moments, surprises, complications and self discovery.  Do-it-yourselfers will love the construction descriptions.

We carry this book in regular print format only.

Nicholas Sparks

The first time I had even heard of Nicholas Sparks was quite awhile ago when they made Message in a Bottle into a movie. You know the one with Kevin Costner?  My girlfriends and I went to see it thinking what a great love story, we are going to walk away full with feeling of love and yearning.  I was so mad three quarters into the movie I almost walked out!  I vowed never to read or watch anything of his ever again.  EVER.  But after many years I gave him another chance.  I really do love his books that were made into movies.  I have honestly only read (or listened to) one of his books but have seen all his movies.  Dear John is my favorite.  Go into reading him knowing that there is always a love story, usually some sort of devastation but really a terrific read.  Enjoy!

Good Grief!

For those of you who like non-fiction books, specifically biographies this particular book by Ellen Stimson, Good Grief!: Life in a Tiny Vermont Village was a wonderful, quick read.  It was laugh out loud funny in some parts and a bit sad in others.  I realized halfway through this that she wrote another book first that may have explained their life a little better.  I will have to go back and read Mud Season to get the juicy details.  I love her outlook on life, she doesn't dwell on things...not really.  She is kind of a fly by the seat of your pants, take the hits as they come, deal with life one catastrophe at a time, woman.  What I took out of this book is to laugh harder, love better.  Hopefully you will, too!

A Wedding in Provence

This novel is straight back to romance by Ellen Sussman.  Named  "sizzling escapist reading" by Entertainment Weekly, I knew if was just what I wanted to read.  Hoping for a low-key idyllic wedding, the happy couple realizes it will be anything but...as the guests begin to arrive.  This is a novel of love, trust, family secrets and the enduring power of love.  A quick, powerful read.  Enjoy!
